Looking to improve on their 5-4-4 record, the Vikes started the ball rolling this week with a tough matchup against Fairfield Union on Monday, October 1. After tying them last year, the girls knew this was a big game, but failed to attain any rhythm, losing 4-1.
Hungry for a win, the girls faced Grandview Heights on Wednesday, October 3. The Bobcats scored early, but sophomore Katie Schiano quickly retaliated to tie the game 1-1. Freshman goalkeeper Kennedy Jackson was a standout with 7 saves and held the score steady for the remainder of the game, netting a tie for the Vikes.
Hoping to round off the busy week with a victory, the Vikes scored early and often against Whitehall-Yearling on Thursday, October 4. Contributing to the decisive 5-0 win were sophomore Olivia Archibald with two goals, sophomore Katie Schiano, senior Leah Pierre-Louis and freshman Sophie Spolter.
The Vikings’ regular season ends this week, with games against Johnstown-Monroe on Monday, October 8, and Columbus School for Girls on Wednesday, October 10.
