On Wednesday, October 3, CA hosted the Newark Catholic Green Wave for the Vikings’ Senior Night, with a 2-mile race around campus.
The Vikings won the race comfortably, with Liam McCann’19, Luke Nester’21 and Charlie Sabgir’20 taking the top 3 spots, respectively.
Later in the week, the team traveled to Thomas Worthington for the Eisenhart Invitational, on Saturday, October 6. Trudging through challenging gravel, slick fields and noisy tunnels on one of the most humid days this fall, the team’s times weren’t quite as fast as it hoped. After a killer last mile, Nester took 29th, followed closely by Liam McCann at 38th. The boys overcame the high temperature and beat many large schools, including Dublin Jerome and Reynoldsburg, earning a 10th overall finish.
Sophomore Regan Cornelius took on the challenge of being the only girls varsity runner for the Vikes, as teammate Annalise Grammel suffered an injury earlier in the week. Cornelius placed 25th out of the 184 runners.
The team looks forward to MSL’s in the coming week at Camp Bobcat in Chillicothe on Saturday, October 13.
