The juniors led the Vikes in this match, showing that Academy’s crew has an especially bright future. Ali Khan’20 was on fire, finishing with a scorching 70. Fellow junior Griffin Mitchell wasn’t too far behind, shooting an impressive 75. Juniors Kahmar Byers and Matthew Cammeyer rounded out the class of 2020’s scores with a 78 and 79, respectively.
Our Vikes then shifted their focus to Marysville for a match on Thursday, September 20, at the Lakes Country Club. The team defeated the Monarchs handily, with a combined score of 148 in 9 holes. Khan and Mitchell continued to impress, both pulling in 35. The rest of the team each shot a 39.
The Vikings faced a tough test in the form of a D1 invite at the Scioto Country Club on Saturday, September 22. The Upper Arlington course is notably one of the most challenging in the state.
It was cold and windy, but nothing could stop our CA golf squad from an outstanding play. The boys scored 325 collectively and tied for fourth against 12 of the best teams in the state. Khan shot a 76, Mitchell an 80 and Byers an 82. The rest of the team shot a 86.
The golf team aims to carry this momentum into the sectionals on Tuesday, September 25, at Oakhaven. The boys final invitational of the year is on Saturday, September 29, hosted by Dublin Jerome.
