Field Hockey: Undefeated

Academy’s field hockey girls have been hustling. Up until this week, the Vikings were not only undefeated but also had not let in a goal in regular season gameplay. Going into this week, CA was excited to maintain this accomplishment and widen its score margin.

The Vikes opened up their week on Monday, September 17, hosting long-time rival CSG. Academy focused on its offense, slamming the Unicorns’ goal with as many shots as they could. CSG fought back, and although it could not win the match, it broke the Vikings’ goal streak, placing one in to set the final score at 10-1.

CA welcomed Hudson and Cincinnati’s Ursuline Academy to the Carlin Fields for a weekend of competition on Friday, September 21, and Saturday, September 22. The Vikes first faced off against the Hudson Explorers, swiftly defeating them 2-0. CA turned to play Ursuline, also taking a 4-0 victory.

Even though Academy’s shut-out streak was broken, the team’s winning spirit is still very much alive. Next week, the Vikes play rival and three-time state champion Thomas Worthington on Wednesday, September 26. The match will be intense, as the only team who has ever matched the Cardinals’ state title streak is our very own Vikings.
