The CA girls tennis team is seeking revenge from last year and compete for a team state title this fall. After just coming up short in the State Final Four tournament last year, the Vikes are ready show that they have never been stronger.
The Vikings lost some key players from the class of 2018, most notably four-year letter winner Georgia Tuckerman’18. But CA has accounted for the gap in its lineup and is showing no sign of weakness thus far. Seniors Himaja Reddy, Maddie Tuckerman and Haylee White are leading the charge for this time to contend for a state title.
Our girls are off to a remarkable start thus far. The Vikes have cruised past their opponents and not showing any signs of slowing down. Led by sophomore star Sydni Ratliff at first singles, CA is stacked from top to bottom. Academy took care of Olentangy Berlin, Lexington and Olentangy Orange in its first few weeks of season play. All three schools are filled with good talent, but none could keep up with the Vikings’ coordination and skills.
The squad also took home the New Albany Invitational title on Saturday, August 25. It was an individual flight-based tournament, but this did not affect the Vikes as they easily overwhelmed other powerhouse Central Ohio schools for a win.
The Vikings look to continue their winning ways when they take on Worthington Christian on Tuesday, September 4. They then head back home to face off against rival CSG on Wednesday, September 5.
