The Academy girls track team competed in two meets this past week. The Vikings were hosts to Patriot Prep, Tree of Life, and Northside Christian on Monday, April 30, before competing at the Mount Gilead Invitational on Saturday, May 5.

CA dominated its home meet, finishing with 65 points as a team and doubling the score of its three competitors. First place finishes came in the 800, the 1600, long jump, high jump, shotput, and discus.

After their meet at Africentric on Friday, May 4 was cancelled, the girls traveled to Mount Gilead on Saturday, May 5, and placed fifth out of fourteen teams. Along with a solid team placement, there were also several standout individual performances.

Junior Sammie Kass had perhaps her best meet of the year, taking second in the 400 in a personal record time of 1:02.1. Additionally, Kass, along with freshman Hannah Clay, sophomore Annalise Grammel, and senior Muriel Goldfarb, swiped first in the 4×400.

In the field, sophomore Mabry Nichols continued to shine, earning second in the high jump.

Senior Khloe Dubenion had a sensational meet as well, setting her season record in discus and earning another victory for the Vikes.

The squad will travel to London for its league meet on Tuesday, May 8 and Friday, May 11.
