The CA boys track team started off its week with a quick trip to Gahanna Lincoln on Wednesday, April 18, to participate in the Gahanna Relays. Like their last meet, the New Albany Invitational, the boys faced a number of Division I teams that challenged the Vikes to perform at superior levels.

Senior Chris Heermann, junior Liam McCann, and freshman Luke Nester dove into the meet head-on in the 1600, earning fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively, out of forty runners. The boys not only finished within roughly a second of each other, but Heermann and Nester also set personal records in the event.

Seniors Karibi Hart and Nick Robie also put forth standout performances. In the 100 meter dash, Hart bolted down the strip in a blazing 11.48 seconds to take fourth, while Robie swept the field in the 800, tearing around the track twice in a time of 1:59.40 to snatch first place.

The senior boys continued to shine in the relays. Nick Watson, Angus Soderberg, Kieran Law, and Robie stuck together for the 4×800 and medley mid relay, grabbing second place in the former and a victory in the latter.

The Vikes finished the meet in fourth place overall out of fourteen teams.

Hungry for more success, the squad traveled to the Bloom-Carroll Invitational on Saturday, April 21. The senior boys starred again and won the majority of points for the Vikes.

Watson shot around the track in the 1600 with a time of 4:33.43, placing second in front of thirty-one other runners. Soderberg followed Watson’s lead and stole third in the 800, with a time of 2:02.39. Hart then represented the sprinters in the 200, taking fourth in 22.99 seconds. Robie ran the grand finale when he triumphed in the 3200, earning first place with a time of 9:44.73.

Law, Hart, Watson, and Soderberg closed out the meet with a win in the 4×400. The Vikes finished the Bloom-Carroll Invitational in sixth place overall.

Due to the cancellation of a previously scheduled home meet, the Vikes will finally host their first event on Monday, April 23, which will also be Senior Night. They then travel to Canal Winchester for the Milt Will Invitational on Friday, April 27.
