Treat Yourself

Fox in the Snow. Sarah Neltner’20/Media

For anyone looking for a quiet place to study or a bite to eat, the Fox in the Snow Cafe is the place for you.

After hearing about this Columbus hotspot from friends, I decided to try it for myself. Having recognition from top-notch blogs such as Columbus Underground and 614 Magazine, this place is not to be ignored.

From pastries to coffee, this quaint cafe offers sweet treats for everyone’s taste buds. Some items include cinnamon rolls at $4.00, custard filled doughnuts at $3.50, and fruit scones at $3.50. The most expensive item on the menu is the soufflé egg sandwich at $7.00. Least expensive is the chocolate chip cookie  ($2.50.)

Upon arriving, the salted dark chocolate brownie caught my eye in the stunning glass showcase.  After taking one bite out of the rich chocolate pastry, I knew I made the right decision for an after school snack. The salt combined with the delicate crust of the brownie left me wanting more.

Although these delicacies are remarkable on their own, add one of their 10 homemade beverages, and you have the perfect pair. For a hot summer’s day you can try the iced tea at $2.75 or the iced coffee at $3.00. If it is snowing and below freezing, the hot chocolate is $4.00, a cappuccino $3.75. \

With limited parking spaces available, it would be smart to beat the morning rush and arrive early. The pastries are freshly made each day, yet are limited.

Unlike most cafes in Columbus, Fox in the Snow does not offer wifi to its customers. Co-owner Jeff Excell wanted a place where people could talk and interact with other people without the distractions. He felt that wifi did just the opposite.
