The Academy wrestlers had stellar placements at smaller meets throughout the week and competed well individually at a larger tournament over the weekend.

The Vikes traveled to Thomas Worthington for a tri-meet against New Albany and Whetstone on Tuesday, February 13. Academy’s wrestlers fought hard against their opponents and placed second. The Vikings won 42-30 against Whetstone but fell 42-27 against New Albany.

CA then hosted its final home meet of the season on Wednesday, February 14, facing Cristo Rey, Northland, and Grandview Heights. The Vikes bested all of their competition and took first overall.

On Saturday, February 17, Academy travelled to Orange High to compete in the Audrey Genovese Memorial Tournament. The Vikings stood their ground against tough opponents and succeeded on an individual level. Sophomore Grant Hillman placed second in the 182 weight class, and senior Angus Soderberg placed fourth in the 170 weight class. As a team, however, CA struggled, placing 11th out of 13 schools.

The Vikes begin their individual postseason with the sectional tournament on Saturday, February 24, at Madison Plains.
