The CA boys swimming team kicked off the postseason by swimming at home for the final time, as the Vikings hosted Sectionals on Saturday, February 10.

As a group, the boys won the meet with 326 points. All three relays placed first, and the 400 freestyle relay, including senior Max Dreisbach, juniors Jack Campbell and Jacob Eismann, and sophomore Mike DeAscentis, set a new meet and pool record with a swim of 3:15.57.

Eismann, who recently committed to swim at Kentucky University, swept the deck in another incredible performance. He broke both the meet and pool records with a time of 51.57 in the 100 backstroke and was a part of two winning relays. In addition, Eismann beat out 50 competitors for first place in the 100 freestyle.

DeAscentis also had a phenomenal meet, as he added to his contribution in the winning 400 freestyle relay by placing first and second in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, respectively.

There are five different sectional meets for District 2. Out of swimmers from all 5 districts, the top swimmer automatically qualifies, followed by the next 25 fastest times. Leading finishers for each event should have no problem qualifying for Districts, but Academy have to wait and see how the other Sectional meets play out before they know which team members qualified for Districts. Districts will be held at Ohio University on Friday, February 16.
