Coming off stunning performances at Academy’s Kevin Michael Invitational, the Vikings were motivated to keep their momentum going into this week. Although the boys fought hard, they couldn’t match the levels of success they had last week.

The Vikings traveled to Northridge on Wednesday, January 24, for the regional quarterfinal tournament. Academy wrestled against Grandview Heights in the opening round and lost, as the Vikes had only had 2 wrestlers, Philip Soderberg’20 and Ethan Halpern’21, beat their opponents. Despite CA’s early exit from the team tournament, the Vikings will still have opportunities to advance individually to states.

After the disappointing loss, Academy hoped to bounce back when it traveled to The Kiski School, just outside Pittsburgh, for an invitational on Saturday, January 27. The Vikings fought hard and ended up placing an impressive fourth in the tournament.

The Vikings will try their hand at advancing in the state tournament as individuals, when they travel to Whitehall-Yearling High School for the MSL meet on Saturday, February 3.
