Two More Victories for Girls Swimming

Coming off its win against Wellington and Bishop Hartley on Thursday, January 11, the CA girls swim team was anxious to jump back in the pool and add more wins to its record. The Vikes did exactly that on Friday, January 19, when they clashed with their bitter arch-rival, Bexley.

After the cancellation of the Northeast Classic on Saturday, January 13, the team devoted every last ounce of its strength toward the first meet in over a week and attacked the Lions with raging energy.

Academy won almost every individual race, as sophomores Whitney Hannallah, Annalise Grammel, and Taylor Warren, along with juniors Callista Popp, Sarah Cabre, and Samantha Kass, all claimed first-place finishes. For good measure, the Vikings also won multiple relays, as the girls crushed Bexley by a whopping 63 points, 115-52.

Riding the momentum from its victory over the Lions, CA hosted the Viking Invitational on Saturday, January 20, and made an impression equally as large against even more teams. The girls team finished in first place again, beating Bexley, Grandview Heights, Chillicothe, Bloom Carroll, Village Academy, Madison Christian, and Worthington Christian.

Diver Esther Lawrence’18 also represented the Vikes on Saturday, January 20, at a dive meet at CSG, and added to the day of wins with her individual victory.

The Vikes aim to continue their hot streak on Tuesday, January 23, at Senior Night, and on Saturday, January 27, at MSLs at home.
