Candles lit the edge of the stage as seniors Kareena Aurora and Neena Baliga, leaders of Academy’s DESI club along with fellow senior Shreyah Mohanselvan, hosted the Diwali Assembly on Monday, November 6.

The extraordinary talent among these upper school students was on full display as members of DESI club performed Indian dances to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

The trio of Mohanselvan and juniors Tara Seri and Harika Vandrasi served as the opening number. The elaborate moves and synchronization featured in their dance showcased the hard work they had put into the performance. Smiles lit their faces as the trio danced across the stage. The audience even joined in at the end, clapping along to the beat of the music.

Following their exit from the stage, an informative video explained the meaning and traditions behind Diwali.

Freshman Sejal Jindal thrilled the audience with a well-rehearsed solo as she never missed a beat during her dance.

Finally, members of the DESI club performed a group number, each dressed in a multitude of different styles of traditional Indian dress. t\

Celebrating the diverse community of Academy, the Diwali assembly, introduced yet another of the many traditions our students partake in at Academy.
