Following a successful end to its regular season, Academy’s field hockey team was excited to enter the District tournament as the Vikes were brimming with confidence. They started strong, hammering Dublin Coffman 8-0 and advancing to the District Semifinals.

The Vikes experienced little trouble in the dispatching of the Shamrocks on Tuesday, October 17. Academy dominated the field, working as a unit to rip through the opposing defense. Leading the offensive attack with goals were juniors Callista Popp (3), Carolyn Bowman, Avie Smith, and Sammie Kass and seniors Maddie DeAscentis and Angel Watkins. In addition to its electric offensive performance, CA’s sound play on defense made for an all-around impressive game by the Vikings.

The next round of tournament play for the Academy is the District Semifinals. The Vikings will face the Upper Arlington Golden Bears, whom they beat 5-0 in the regular season, at home on Tuesday, October 24. With a win, the Vikes would advance to the District Finals on Saturday, October 28.
