The boys soccer team, seeded #4 in its bracket, had its first two games of the postseason-against Lakewood on Wednesday, October 18, and Centennial on Saturday, October 21. With two victories, the Vikes have advanced to the District Semifinals.
Lakewood was a dominant win for Academy. With few shots on goalie Justin Kahle’18 and an explosive performance from the Vikings offense, the team ran away with 10-0 win.
Centennial posed a much tougher challenge, but our boys came away with another shutout victory. The first goal of the game was a beautiful header off of a corner kick by senior Angus Soderberg. A well-placed shot from classmate Connor Brown followed, giving the Vikes a 2-0 win.
The intensity level will raise tremendously this week, as the Vikings look to tame the Lions for a second time. Bexley, still bitter about Academy reclaiming the cup on Wednesday, October 4, will be hungry for revenge.
The rivalry game takes at 7pm on Wednesday, October 25, at Bexley.
Student entrance fee is $5.
