On Saturday, October 7, the boys soccer team played an intense game against Grandview Heights at MAPFRE Stadium, home of the Columbus Crew. The blackout Academy student section filled the stands, ready to get rowdy and support its soccer team.

But the Vikes got off to a rough start, as the Bobcats scored on a free kick to take an early lead. CA continued to play hard, but the Vikings could not capitalize on their opportunities until–with only 2 seconds left in the first half–David Barren’19 tied up the game and gave Academy a huge confidence boost heading into halftime.

The second half was crazy, as one Grandview player started throwing punches, but the Vikes remained focused on the game. They had multiple scoring opportunities in the second half, but failed to finish any of them. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

The boys soccer team is entering its last week of the regular season, fired up and ready to win. The Vikings have two away games: they travel to Fairfield Union on Tuesday, October 11, before going to Granville on Saturday, October 14.
