Following a devastating loss against rival Thomas Worthington on Tuesday, September 19, Academy’s field hockey team trained hard to bounce back. It paid off: the girls earned two hard-fought victories.

On Tuesday, September 26, the Vikings clashed with Bishop Watterson at home. At the start of the game, possession of the ball was balanced between each team. But CA eventually proved it was superior. Impressive junior Avie Smith dove into the circle and buried a shot to give the Vikes the lead. Riding the momentum, Academy attacked offensively. Smith scored 2 more goals to complete a hat trick, and classmate Carolyn Bowman tacked on one of her own, rolling Vikings to a 4-0 victory.

CA retained is high energy when hosting arch-rival Bexley on Thursday, September 28. The Lions stacked most of their team on defense, attempting to slow down the Vikes’ electric offense. Bexley’s efforts were to no avail, as Academy ripped through its defense for 7 goals, scored by Bowman(2), Callista Popp’19(2), Angel Watkins’18, Smith, and Charlotte Adams’21.

The Vikings will try to keep cruising against Olentangy Orange at home on Wednesday, October 4, and at New Albany on Thursday, October 5.
