Ending on Saturday, September 30, was the Columbus Museum of Art’s exhibit “Comics vs. Art,” sponsored in partnership with Wild Goose Creative (a Columbus art gallery) and Star House.
Local cartoonists reinterpreted well-known paintings in subjective styles, drawing inspiration from elements of the original piece. Some re-interpretations were similar to the original, while some showed the spirit of the piece in an entirely new way.
Featured artists included Canada Keck, Scott DM Simmons, and Ann Marie Foerster.
Pieces by teens and young adults currently staying at Star House were also featured. Star House”serves as a one-stop shop where homeless youth can access resources.” The shelter has medical and dental providers on site, including therapy and legal services.
The exhibit “Comics V. Art” brought together the work of established cartoon artists and youth, who are establishing themselves in a visually interesting and emotionally stirring display.
