Boys Soccer on A Roll

Coming off a win against Wellington on Saturday, September 16, the CA boys soccer team was ready to tackle its next obstacles with three more matches.

Up first was a home game against Whitehall on Monday, September 18. Hoping to keep their winning streak alive, the boys prepared for a hard match. Good shots and solid defense from both teams made it difficult for the Vikes to get an advantge. The game finished as a 1-1 tie, with Academy’s lone goal from junior Tyler Schlonsky.

On Wednesday, September 20, the boys stepped onto Hondros for their match against London. CA dominated the matchup. The Vikings kept possession for the majority of the 80 minutes but struggled to capitalize on their opportunities. They had an unlucky goal ratio, as only 3 of their 41 shots found the back of the net. Connor Brown’18, Jonah Houston’21, and Alex McClellan’19 scored goals, and the boys walked away with a 3-0 win.

Determined to improve their shot to goal ratio, the Vikes traveled to Fairbanks on Saturday, September 23. Again, Academy controlled the ball. The Vikes consistently displayed their composure, allowing them to keep possession and make great combination passes. One combination between freshmen Jared Kass and Houston led to the first score of the day, as Houston finished off the goal. Later in the first half, Schlonsky played a perfect through ball to Jacob Sardo’19 for another goal.

David Barren’19 had many unlucky shots in the first half, but his moment came after the break. He started off the second half with a goal, giving the Vikes a 3-0 lead over the Panthers. But the boys didn’t stop there. Three more goals followed from Angus Soderberg’18, Sardo, and Colin Sullivan’19, bringing the final score to 6-0 in favor of the Vikings.

The boys’ Senior Night is on Monday, September 25, on Hondros at 6:45pm against Hamilton Township.
