Boys Soccer Extends Winning Streak

The CA boys soccer team had only one game this past week: a showdown against long-time rival Worthington Christian. Remembering a 4-3 loss to the Warriors last year, the Vikes stepped onto Hondros Field on Wednesday, September 6, hungry for revenge.

Academy struck first with a beautiful header from senior Angus Soderberg. But the Warriors quickly recovered with transition goal just 2 minutes later. The boys went into halftime with a tie.

Determined not to relive last year’s upset, the Vikings capitalized on as many chances as they could in the second half. The score remained knotted for 20 minutes before a goal from star senior Jack Ostroski gave CA at a 2-1 lead. Ten minutes later, Connor Brown sealed the victory for the Vikings with a long shot as the boys cruised to an impressive 3-1 victory. It was CA’s 5th consecutive win.

Academy returns to action on Wednesday, September 13, as it travels to Whitehall. On Saturday, September 16, the Vikes will be looking for revenge once again when they host the team that eliminated them from the postseason last year, the Wellington Jaguars.
