The Columbus Academy girls volleyball team was back in action on August 22, after multiple scrimmages to get the season underway.
The Lady Vikes took on Tree of Life, cruising to victory in three sets.
Then, on August 24, Academy faced off against Granville Christian, making it look easy as our girls made quick work of the Lions in 3 sets.
The team looked sharp in its first two non-league matches, but the Vikings faced a early test in the season with a tri-match on August 26.
First, the Vikes battled CSG, playing a best of three. This time, however, CA came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard, finishing with a loss in two sets.
In the team’s second match, against Delaware Christian, the Vikings took the Eagles to three sets, but Academy’s brilliant effort fell just short again as the Vikes suffered their second loss of the day.
With a .500 record heading into its August 30 match against Northland, the team needed to bounce back with a victory.
The Vikings did just that, taking care of business in three sets to move to 3-2 overall on the season.
After the game, junior captain Camille Reeves said, “We’re a very young and very athletic team, and I think we’re going to be able to use that to our advantage and give teams a fight they aren’t ready for.”
The Vikes look to continue their hot streak when they host Worthington Christian on Tuesday, September 5, and travel to Whitehall on Saturday, September 9.
