Coming off a 2-0 loss to a tough Central Crossing team, the Academy girls soccer team was motivated to get back in the win column on Wednesday, August 30. In addition, the Vikes’ opponent was Bishop Rosecrans, the team that eliminated CA in the regional semifinals last year.
The girls played with a vengeance on their home turf, hammering the Bishops 5-1. Standout sophomore Emma Belford scored two goals to fuel the winning effort, with classmate Sarah Neltner, senior Apsara Som, and freshman Olivia Archibald netting a goal each. Senior goalie Kyra Zoog also made several fantastic saves to hold the talented Bishops’ offense to just one goal.
This win continued the team’s strong start, pushing its record to 2-1. The girls play their next match away at Worthington Christian on Thursday, September 6 at 7:00pm.
