Boys Soccer Stays Hot

The Academy boys soccer team looked to improve upon its 2-1 start with two home games last week.

On Monday, August 28, the Vikes faced off against Horizon Science Academy, a team the Vikes have enjoyed much success against in past years. The boys demolished the Jaguars, 9-3.

Three days later, the Vikings clashed with Bishop Hartley. Senior Karibi Hart, who normally starts at outside defender, was unable to play against the Hawks due to an injury. Despite this setback, Academy played a tremendous game and shut out Hartley, 4-0.

The first goal of the night was a perfect shot in the low corner from junior Collin Sullivan. Later in the first half, the Vikes doubled their cushion with another goal. Standout junior Evan Scott made an impressive run down the field, followed by a pass that set up an easy goal from freshman Jonah Huston. CA went into half with a 2-0 lead over the Hawks.

The Vikes continued to control the game with crisp passing and many opportunities. Star senior Jack Ostrowski fired a bullet into the back of the net, giving the Vikings an insurmountable lead. In the final minutes, junior Jacob Sardo added another goal for good measure, capping off a great performance by Academy.

The boys next game is on Wednesday, September 6, when they host Worthington Christian.
