Boys Golf Cruising In First Month

The results from this season have been nothing but exceptional from the Vikings golf team thus far. Coach Yakscoe’s squad has been labeled as a favorite for the state title.

Senior co-captain Cole Walter started the season off at Columbus Country Club, carding a 69 on August 7.

Senior co-captain, Sam Vogel, immediately matched this, also shooting 69 at Chapel Hill Golf Course just three days later.

Yet the veterans aren’t the only ones on the team shooting lights out. Ali Khan‘20 has the lowest average on the team throughout the season, an impressive 71.

With the luxury of having countless varsity-level golfers, the loaded Vikings squad has claimed many Saturday invitation titles this year, including the CA Shootout, MSL Preseason, Warrior/Jag Classic, Mt. Vernon Invite, and MSL Midseason.

CA’s most recent match was a clash against Westerville Central on Thursday, August 31, as standout sophomore Kahmar Byers and senior Alec Freytag led Academy to a win with 37s on 9 holes.

With postseason approaching in just a few weeks, the Vikes are looking to keep this momentum going. Their next match is a showdown against Pickerington North at Clover Valley Golf Course on Thursday, September 7.
