This past week, the Vikings competed in districts at Watkins. The meet took place over 3 days because of its magnitude, so preliminaries and finals were often run separately from each other. Our girls had strong showings each day, leading to a marvelous first place.

Those who placed fourth or above in any event will compete in regionals.

Ginnie Ma’19 placed sixth in the 100 hurdles, second in the 300 hurdles, and third in the long jump.

Muriel Goldfarb’18 placed second in the 100 meter dash, followed by Sarah Neltner’20. Goldfarb also placed fifth in the 200 meter dash.

Sisters Audrey Grammel’17 and Annalise Grammel’20 placed second and third, respectively, in the mile. Grammel’20 and Lily Kaufman’17 placed second and seventh, respectively, in the 3200.

Jessica Griffin’17 placed second in the 400. Grammel’17 placed first in the 800.

Mabry Nichols’20 placed sixth in the high jump. Juniors Lexis Hughes and Khloe Dubenion placed fourth and ninth, respectively, in the shot-put. Dubenion also placed third in the discus.

All of Columbus Academy’s relay teams will advance to regionals. The 4×200 placed fourth, and the 4×400 placed second. Both the 4×100 and the 4×800 placed first in the district.

The girls who advanced in their events will compete at Fairfield Union High School for regionals. Preliminaries are on Wednesday, May 24, and finals are on Friday, May 26.
