Senior Night and Regular Season’s End for Girls Lacrosse

(Inji Kang’19/Media)

Tuesday, May 9, was Senior Night for our girls lacrosse team, followed by a game against Worthington Kilbourne. After a lovely tribute towards the six graduating seniors, the Vikings took to the field for a  face-off against the Wolves.

The seniors thirst for a win on their big night prevailed, taking home a 12-10 win.

In their second game of the week, tensions were high on Thursday May 11 as the Vikes prepared to tame the Bexley Lions.

Academy got off to a bumpy start, trailing 1-7 after the first 13 minutes. Lexi Leader’19 and Michelle Daoud’17  put three more points on the scoreboard, but the Lions did the same.

At the start of the second half, the Vikes took charge. For every three goals Academy scored,  Bexley only snagged one. With the offense on fire and the defense switching some players to face-guarding, the girls closed in on the Lions.

The once six-point gap was now down to one.

Sadly, with only 1:29 left, the Vikings failed to get another shot in the back of the net. The Lions won 12-13.

The girls still had a tremendous season and are placed second for postseason. They play at home against The Miami Valley School at 6pm on Wednesday May 17.
