Girls Lacrosse Falls to DeSales in Close Loss

On Tuesday, May 2, the girls lacrosse team played against its greatest challenges of the season, facing St. Francis DeSales, the defending state champions, with a star-studded roster.

Kiersten Thomassey’20, junior Shenique Lewis, and senior Kennedy Sulton were all tasked with faceguarding one Desales player. 

The Vikes did not come out at their best and were slammed by the Stallions. At one point, DeSales had a 4-point lead, but the Vikings battled back and tied it up. The game remained close from then on. 

The Academy team saw 

Standout performances by seniors Michelle Daoud and Baylee Mueller, who had 3 goals and 2 goals, respectively, were impressive. Also, junior Kelley Antoine had quite a comeback after being concussed, making several key saves to keep the Vikes in the game.

Despite our girls’ best efforts, the Stallions eked out a win of 9-8. 

The team’s next game is home against Worthington Kilbourne on Tuesday, May 9th.
