Girls Track Update

The girls track team held its own on Senior Night, triumphing over Centerburg in an intense dual meet on April 25. Our girls then traveled to Hamilton Township High School on April 28 for the Ranger Invitational, placing third.

At the Cenerburg meet,  senior Jessica Griffin placed 1st  in the 100 meter dash,  followed  by juniors Bri Dragin and Muriel Goldfarb, placing second and third, respectively. Academy’s 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relays all placed first. Sisters Audrey Grammel’17 and Annalise Grammel’20 placed first and second in the mile, respectively. Griffin led the 400 meter dash, followed by wa Jacinta Crestanello’17 and Mercedes Crestanello’19 in second and third places, respectively. Academy took the first 7 places in the 800 and the first 5 in the 200.  Academy beat Canterbury with an amazing 76-41. 

The team then traveled to Hamilton Township for the Ranger Invitational. Academy also received its fair share of placings there. 

On April 28 and The ranger Invitational, Sarah Neltner’20 placed 3rd in the 100 meter. Trammel placed first in the 400, and Grammel’20 placed second in the 800. Lily Kaufman’17 and Callista Popp’19 placed second and third, respectively, in the 1600, and Ginnie Ma’19 placed third in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. The 4×100 relay team placed 3rd, the 4×200 team placed 2nd, and both the 4×400 and 4×800 teams placed first. Junior Lexis Hughes placed 3rd in the shotput, and Khloe Dubinion’18 placed 2nd in the discus. Ma also placed 3rd in the long jump, and Mabry Nichols’20 placed first in the high jump. Academy netted a 3rd place out of 7 teams with these respectable results. 

The girls celebrated its final home meet and Senior Night, honoring the final coaching year of the esteemed, Bob Kirk’67.
