Get Ready: Class of 2018

(Chris Heerman’18/Media Team)

This year’s ballot was far from typical. Only one duo, Shreyah Mohanselvan and Nick Robie, chose to run, and thus, automatically won.

I can understand the concern with the lack of competition they’ve faced, therefore, removing one method of checks and balances, but to those who preach that the issue lies in a grade filled with apathy, I argue the opposite.

Such a situation has come to fruition because of the complete confidence and enthusiasm our grade has for these two students. Both are leading and driving forces on CA student council, and there has been a unanimous response from my class that they are no doubt the best pair for the job.

Such a complete faith in our new leadership should give assurance to the rest of the high school. Not only are our new highest positions filled with people that will be both disciplined and energized in improving the student community, but it also highlights the sense of unity the class of 2018 will bring to the forefront.

Angel Watkins and Neena Baliga, our new Service Board leadership, only extend this sentiment. Both not only excel in communication and collaboration but also stand in solidarity behind making our school and greater society a kinder and happier place.

So Upper School, we’re ready. Are you?
