On Wednesday, March 29, track season commenced at Bexley High School as the Vikes faced Bexley and Whitehall. It was a productive first meet where everyone on the team tested out events.

An overwhelming number of distance runners crowded the track for the 800 and 1600, and CA did not disappoint. The boys swept first, second, and third places in the 800 with Grayson Mick’17, Nick Watson’18, and Dylan Warren’17, respectively.  In the 1600 with Mick placed first Nick Robie’18 second and Watson third.

Sprinters also came in full force with strong performances in the 100, 200, and 400. KJ Boyce’17 snatched first place in the 200 and 400, and Karibi Hart’18 also claimed the number one spot in the 100.

Looking to build on its momentum, the team competed on Saturday, April 1, at the Liberty Union Invitational. Although just a relay meet, the boys participated in a multitude of events ranging from the sprint medley and 4×100 to the 4×1600. The team pushed hard and placed towards the top in most events, earning third place even without a few field competitions.

Academy faces multiple opponents on Monday, April 3, at Worthington Christian, and on Saturday, April 8, at the Big Walnut Invitational.
