Boys Suffer Tough Tennis Loss

Knowing their first match was going to be tough, the boys tennis team fought against a strong St. Xavier on Saturday, March 25.

In first singles, Austin Lawrence’17 put up a good fight against freshman Ronit Huryur (who accumulated a perfect record) and took the match 6-1, 5-7, 1-0.

In second singles, senior Eric Min battled Peter Schulteis’17. In another difficult matchup, Min failed to come out victorious, losing 6-3, 6-3.

Playing at third singles, senior Michael Qi  clashed with Cameron Geoppinger’17. Qi performed well but lost with a close 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.

Rhian Seneviratne’20 and Suriya Sundaram’19 lost Joe to Beischel’18 and sophomore, Max DeCurtins in first doubles, 6-1, 6-1.

Sid Menon’17 and Drew Haffer’19 opposed Ryan Hagemier’17 and Dominic Pham’19 in second doubles. Menon and Haffer swept the first set, winning 6-0, but eventually fell by a score of 0-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The Vikes were scheduled to play Walsh Jesuit on Saturday, April 1, but the match was postponed.

The boys play West Jefferson on April 3.
