Both the girls and boys bowling teams competed against Grandview Heights on Wednesday, February 1.
The boys began this month with a tough loss. On senior night, the Vikes fell to Grandview with a score of 1936-1696. Senior Nick Smith continued his terrific season, as he bowled an average of 163.5. Strong performances also came seniors Hamza Kashubeck, Braden Shimp, Tyler Whitt, and Jacob Taub.
The girls also fell to the Bobcats with 1679-1125, despite strong scores from senior Maggie McCann, juniors Anna Schuff and Izzy Bettinger, and 9th graders Nikki Turley and Alisha Mohsin. Schuff had a season-high performance, bowling an average of 103.
Senior night for the Vikings was a showcase for the outgoing seniors in their last home match, and the feeling was bittersweet due to the loss.
On Saturday, February 4, the boys competed in the MSL championships and had an exceptional performance, finishing as runners-up. Nick Smith bowled a phenomenal series, as did Tyler Whitt, Jacob Taub, Michael Reagan, and Hamza Kashubeck. The Vikes defeated Worthington Christian to advance to the finals against Whitehall, but ultimately falling 3-1. Smith bowled a stellar 228 in his first game.
The championship was the final match for the boys.
The girls team will close out the season on Wednesday, February 8, against Bishop Ready, at HP Lanes, starting at 4pm.
