On Wednesday, November 9, Columbus Academy’s Upper School Women’s Choir and Camerata performed in the Fall Choir Concert.
The stage started off as empty, until the two groups came through the Schoedinger Theater doors and from backstage.
The women from both choirs were dressed in identical long black dresses and diamond earrings, while the men were in matching three-piece suits.
The two choirs joined for the first song, “Morokeni,” before Camerata left the stage.
Mrs. Amy Brooks, the teacher and director of both choirs, introduced the event, the choirs, and Mrs. Jennifer Kristoff, the accompanist.
Women’s Choir continued the concert with three more songs, “She Sings,” “Lift Thine Eyes,” and “Jabberwocky.” The last song included high-pitched screams from the performers in this choir.
After the Women’s Choir exited the stage, the Men’s Ensemble, made up of the men of Camerata, sang “Viva La Compagnie!”
The Men’s Ensemble left four of its most powerful singers on stage as the Academy Tenors. Arranged by sophomore Peter DiMaggio, the four performed Ne-Yo’s “So Sick.”
The rest of Camerata rejoined the four, and the group performed two more songs: “The Isle is Full of Noises” and “Road Home.”
The event concluded with cookies and congratulations in the theater lobby.
