The golf team suffered a defeat by Bexley at the district tournament on Wednesday, October 5. With a score of 312, the Vikings lost by thirteen strokes, bringing their 2016 season to an unfortunate end. The boys tried their hardest but did not play as well as they had hoped.
Even though Cole Walter’18 says, “It is safe to say that nobody is pleased with the result and our team goal wasn’t met,” the team’s hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed this season as it was titled MSL champs and advanced far into the post-season tournament. Walter also notes that everyone improved and had fun while doing it.
The only varsity senior, Michael Zhang, reflects on his last season as memorable. Zhang said, “This year’s team had incredible chemistry. We pushed each other and supported one another. To have so much success with such a young group of guys is an incredible feat within itself. It shows that the golf team has an undeniably bright future ahead of itself.”
Next year’s returning golfers are determined to work longer and harder to reclaim Academy’s title as Division II State Champs.
