An early morning long drive was worth it when the girls track team placed fourth among eleven teams on May 7th at Mount Gilead.
Starting off strong, Briyana Dragin’18 ran two 200’s and qualified for finals after placing seventh in prelims with a time of 28.9. She pulled through and placed fourth with a time of 28.8.
Cobi Warstler’18 also proved her potential for states after she ran her 800 in 2:38.7 minutes and placed third.
The 4×200 of Savannah Cofer’16, Jacinta Crestanello’17, Dragin, and Clare Neltner’18 took second place with a time of 1:57.0. The 4×800 placed fourth with Maddie Tuckerman’19, Ryan Milbourne’19, Crestanello, and Lily Kaufman’17. The girls ran a time of 11:06.0.
Finally, the 4×4 finished the meet with a second place snag for the Vikings. Runners Crestanello, Jessica Griffin’17, Audrey Grammel’17, and Warstler raced a 4:35.6.
The girls also brought in points from field events. Khloe Dubenion’18 threw 101- 02 in the discus and was awarded third place. Ginnie Ma’19 competed and earned fifth in long jump with a distance of 15-01.50.
The team’s energy is increasing, but its times need to shorten as the girls roll into post season.
