Boys Lacrosse Dominates on Senior Night

On Saturday, May 7, the boys lacrosse team had its Senior Night, honoring 6 players before they prepared to go to battle under the lights on Hondros Field. Recognized were Jamie Barren, Ryan Cullen, Otis Klingbeil, Dalton Porter, Sean Reagan, and Calvin Wuorinen. The night would mean nothing, however, if the Vikes didn’t emerge with a win.

With the Cougars of Sylvania Southview in town, the Vikings knew they needed to come out with a victory.  So riding the excitment from the pre-game ceremonies, Academy left no doubt who the better team was, pummeling Southview from start to finish en route to a 16-7 win.

Every senior shined in the game, with Cullen, Klingbeil, and Wuorinen all scoring goals, and Barren and Porter stifling the Cougars on defense. Reagan couldn’t play due to a broken collarbone.

Klingbeil and freshman David Barren led the charge offensively with 5 and 4 goals respectively. Academy’s reliable defense, teamed with the largest home crowd of the year, rattled Southview into countless turnovers, as the Vikes cruised to a 9 goal victory. With momentum back on their side, the 7-5 Vikings are in the right direction as the tournament approaches.

Academy plays Bishop Watterson in the Vikes’ home finale on Tuesday, May 10.
