On Wednesday, April 20, the boys lacrosse team faced perhaps its toughest opponent of the season in St. Francis DeSales (6-1). After matching the Stallions goal for goal in the first half, the Vikes lost steam early in the third quarter, allowing DeSales to pull away and eventually win, 13-8.
Academy’s defense had a tough time stopping the Stallions’ offense, powered by seniors Austin Popovich and Nick Musci, who scored 4 goals apiece.
Freshman defender Dalyn DeCree said, “I actually think our defense was pretty good. Those two attackmen for DeSales were just better.” Decree also credited the Stallions’ defense: “A lot of times, our offense will be so good that it will just win games for us, but DeSales did a good job of making sure that didn’t happen.”
Otis Klingbeil’16 led the Vikings with 3 goals.
Academy will look to get back on track as it travels to Westerville Central on Monday, April 25, for a game against the Warhawks.
