The bowling team’s season came to an end on Thursday, February 18, with a strong but insufficient performance at Districts. The boys team and individual girls could not land themselves in the top two places of the final rankings: a standing required to move on to the state tournament.
The two girls to qualify for districts were Samantha Hunker’16 and Metty Schroeder’16. Schroeder was ranked 56th and Hunker was ranked 62nd out of 93 participants. Schroeder bowled a total of 383 pins across all three games, and Hunker bowled a total of 366.
The boys team ranked ninth out of 14 teams at Districts, and though it was an impressive feat, it was not enough to carry them to states. Nonetheless, the boys bowled superbly with a total of 2,616 points across the three regular games and 3,542 across all five baker games. Lead bowler for the boys was captain Aaron Brown’16 and who was ranked 20th out of 89 bowlers. Brown bowled a total of 580 pins across all three games, only five pins behind 19th place.
The bowling team had an eventful and memorable campaign. Emre Kahraman’16 says the season’s earlier-than-ideal end “was bittersweet, but a great enjoyable season.”
