Students Step for Black History Month

On Monday, February 22, a group of students will perform a stepping routine for the Black History Month assembly. Stepping is a form of dance using the hands and feet to make music and is a unique aspect of African American culture.

Led by juniors Juliana Wilder and Rebecca Amonor, approximately 15 students are learning how to step.

The stepping routine is rhythmic and percussive, and the group creates a mesmerizing pattern by using their bodies as instruments. Despite only having three rehearsals, one of which was with the dance instructor that taught the routine, the group looks put-together and prepared.

Amonor and Wilder are excited to show off their routine and hope that everyone enjoys the performance.
