Football’s Last Home Game Goes Out with a Bang

On Friday, October 16, all players and, particularly, the seniors Jacob Jeffers, Jack Mills, Sam Tuckerman, Matt Watters and Liam Wainaina hoped to end with a win, and that’s exactly what they did.  Academy quickly took the lead over Berne Union, scoring a touchdown rushed 6 yards by Herman Moultrie’18.
Moultrie had another touchdown to end the first quarter 14-0. In the second quarter, Mills  returned a 75-yard interception to add another 6 points on the board, and Tuckerman had a successful extra point. With ten seconds left before halftime, Dorian Moultrie’19 caught a 31-yard pass from Watters in the end zone, ending  the half at 28-0.
Coming into the third quarter, Jerome Buckner’18 caught another touchdown pass from Watters. Berne Union finally scored a touchdown of its own, but it was not left unreciprocated by Academy. The Vikings scored again with a run by Josh Pearson’18 with only three minutes left in the game, and Roman Bellisari’17 recovered a fumble to score another touchdown.
This was the last home game for the seniors, and the team had a successful last night under the lights at Academy, taking home a 48-7 win over Berne Union.
