On Tuesday, May 12th and Friday, May 15th, the Vikes competed in the MSL League Meet at London High School against Grandview Heights, Bexley, Whitehall-Yearling, Madison Plains, Worthington Christian, West Jefferson, and London. The boys placed 5th with102 points, and the girls tied for 4th with 84 points.
The 4×800 team of Logan Baker’16, Kevin Boyce’17, Tommy Mampieri’17, and Nicholas Robie’18 finished 4th with a time of 8:44.54, just over a second behind Bexley.
Jerome Buckner’18 finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 11.65 seconds.
The 4×200 team of Jack Mills’16, Boyce, Tim Leathery’15, and Michael Kusi’17 finished 3rd, with a time of 1:33.53.
Baker won the 1600 meter run, with a time of 4:36.30, over 1.5 seconds faster than Worthington’s second place runner! Baker also won the 800 meter run.
Buckner won the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.17 seconds and got second in the 200 meter dash.
In the 4×400, Leathery, Boyce, Buckner, and Baker won with a time of 3:24.76, 7 seconds faster than the second-place relay team.
For field events, Mills got third place in long jump with a final distance of 19-09.25 feet, and JaVahn Iverson’15 got second in discus with a final distance of 135-06 and second in shot put with a distance of 45-11.25.
Audrey Grammel’17, Sydnie Boykins’15, Cobi Warstler’16, and Julia Rizk’15 won the 4×800, with a time of 10:09.91, beating the runner-up by nearly 7 seconds. Betsy Wallace’17, Jacinta Crestanello’17, Grammel, and Rizk won the 4×400.
Rizk also won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:15.74, as well as the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.17
Grammel received runner-up in the 400, with a time of 1:01.23 and won the 3200-meter run in 12:10.89, 50 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
In field events, Jessica Hile’16 placed 6th in the discus and 4th in shot put.
The teams will compete for the OHSAA District title on Tuesday, May 19th at Whitehall-Yearling.
