On November 1st, nearly a million people from around the globe signed up for NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. Each of these individuals pledged to write a 50,000-word rough draft of any form of literature during the 30 days of November. Writers can connect with the NaNoWriMo online community by earning badges based on progress, getting inspired by various resources on the website, and interacting with other participants from around the world.
Columbus Academy will have its own NaNoWriMo community that is comprised of students and faculty interested in the challenge. Organized by juniors, Lawson Stump and Alex Lichen, the Academy community of writers will come together to write, discuss ideas, and relax with food.
According to now two-time participant Lichen, “NaNoWriMo taught me a lot about the patience as well as determination that was a part of the writing process. It was a great experience.”
Are you up for the challenge? If so, it’s never too late to sign up! You can register at http://nanowrimo.org to learn more.
