Brief of World News: September 8-12, 2014

1.) President Obama announced that a coalition has been formed to confront ISIS in the Middle East through a series of air strikes. Tragic news surfaced this week that ISIS beheaded David Haines, a British aid worker.

2.) Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely by the Baltimore Ravens due to a the release of a video, which showed him punching his then-fiancé (now wife) in an elevator.  An investigation is still ongoing regarding this incident.

3.) Catherine “Kate,” Duchess of Cambridge is expecting another baby, following the birth of her son, George, in July 2013. This baby will be the second for the Duchess and her husband, William.

4.) Oscar Pistorius, former Olympic track star, was found not guilty for the February 2013 murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. He was, however, found guilty of negligent homicide and faces sentencing in mid-October.

5.) Apple released its highly anticipated iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this week, plus the iWatch. The company also paired up with U2 and provided all iTunes users with a free album.
