Baseball defeats Madison Plains

The baseball team entered the season with high hopes, expecting to field the strongest team Academy will see for years. With an 18-4 record, its performance matches their promise.

On May 7, the team defeated Madison Plains, 11-6. Charlie Watters’14 and Scott MacKenzie’15 had stand out showings after hitting a combined three home runs. The boys joined girls lacrosse and boys tennis as league champions for the season.

With seniors Lee Solomon, Charlie Watters, and Garrett Levine continuing baseball in college, the team still has strong talent and solid leadership for its next season. CA ranks first in the district and 16th in the state as it goes into tournament play. Our biggest foes will be West Jefferson, to whom we have tied and lost, and Hartley, who we expect to face in district finals.
