Final Open Mic Dazzles Crowd

Students gathered in the theater lobby on Friday, April 18th,  for a pizza and soda- fueled night of music and poetry. The laid-back event was Music Club’s Spring Open Mic Night, the last of its kind for the 2013-14 school year.

The performances included a cheery performance of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” by seniors Turner Montgomery and Courtney Gittins, a folksy cover of Outkast’s “Hey Ya” sung by Paul Choe ’15 and Tarushi Gupta ’15, and two powerful original poems by David Brown’15. The thirteen other acts ranged in style, featuring upper school students from all grade levels.

Performers enjoyed sharing their talents, and spectators had fun listening. Music Club co-president, Annie Morford ‘14, summed up the night by calling it “good people doing good things.”

The night closed with a song and message from the club’s other co-president, Elliot Nick ’14. He thanked the students for their support and the club advisor, Mr. Arndt, for giving Annie and him so much freedom in running these relaxed and fun events.
