Movie Review: Hotel Transylvania

Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, a five-star resort that has been human-free for over a century!

After the tragic death of his wife years ago, Count Dracula built a safe haven for himself, his daughter, Mavis, and all the other monsters of the world. For many years, the hotel went undisturbed by the “evil” humans, but on Mavis’s 118th birthday, a clueless, adventurous, and thoroughly charming human, Johnny, finds his way to the supposedly un-locatable hotel. To make things worse, Mavis and Johnny zing, a special feeling between a girl and a boy that happens only once in a lifetime.

Yes, the movie is animated. And yes, it is geared toward a younger audience, but with stars like Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, and Andy Sandberg, who wouldn’t be able to have a good time?

Hotel Transylvania is full of laughs from start to finish. The romance between Mavis and Johnny is one that any teenager can relate to, and the actors really make them come alive. Selena Gomez’s voice perfectly suits the personality of Mavis, and Andy Sandberg makes Johnny into an absolute riot. Equally amusing is Adam Sandler’s Dracula. As opposed to the blood-sucking monster you might imagine, Dracula is an overprotective father with a kind heart.

Full of laughter and charm, Hotel Transylvania is a wonderful movie sure to become a Halloween classic.
