Academy’s field hockey team has launched its season with a blast, defeating all of its opponents thus far. Led by senior captains, Casey Lange, Coutney Deena, and Anjali Kanwar, the Vikes triumphed over Gates Mills Hawken this past Saturday, September 22, with a 6-1 win.

After losing many seniors last year, numerous fans have looked at the new squad with doubtful eyes. But the team’s record speaks for itself. Charlotte Vaziri ’14, says, “Many people have seen this season as a rebuilding one. But I don’t see it as that. We’re not adjusting from our losses from last year. We’re adjusting to highlight the strengths of our new group of girls.”

With new freshmen on board, who are filling in open positions from last year, and the strong leadership of upperclassmen, the field hockey team has bonded and doing better than ever. This Monday, September 24, the Vikings will face off Dublin Scioto at the Irish’s stadium at 5:30.
