For Girls Soccer, Communication is Key

Despite disappointing losses early in the season to some tough teams, the girls soccer squad is making a statement after defeating Wellington and Heath, and Fairbanks, currently ranked first in the district.

Co-captain Melanie Knopp’12 states, the team is in a planning stage: “We really want to make it to the District final, but first, we have to get all the freshmen and incoming players situated on the field. Right now we just need to fill in all the spots from the injured players we have.”

Another key factor is teamwork according to co-captain Emily Carlin’12: “This year is about going back to the basics and really mastering playing in our 4-5-1 formation and learning how to create good plays. We are all working together to find our team dynamic and become the best we can be.”

Academy plays against Granville at Crew Stadium on Saturday, September 15th.
