Cross Country at Tiffin Carnival Meet

Cross-country had a strong outing this past weekend in the Tiffin Carnival event, perhaps the team’s largest competition, including 39 of the toughest teams in Division III Varsity A.

Academy came in at an impressive 13th place. The team brought down its total time by 45 seconds! Junior captain, Alex Ho, had a personal record of 17:01. Sophomore, Ricky de Aguiar, posted a P.R. at 19:06.

According to junior captain, Aron Aziz, our runners get pumped up for upcoming events in several ways.

“A lot of energy comes together at the meet right before the race,” says Aziz,”Once we’ve all warmed up for 45 minutes to an hour, we go to the starting line and do some run-outs to loosen up further. While we’re out there, we bring everyone in together, and Coach Mike Ramseyer leads us in a chant: “Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire!”

Looks as though the cheer worked. The team ran with it to great success.
